Regular Season Round 4: Piraten - Blackbirds 24-58

Bottom-ranked Worthersee Piraten (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 58-24 loss to fourth ranked Blackbirds (3-1) in Klagenfurt on Saturday evening. They held Worthersee Piraten to an opponent 14.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 32.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Philipp Horvath (175-87) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and swingman Georg Gentner (194-98) who added 11 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Maximilian Kunovjanek (199-87) responded with 8 points and 10 rebounds and guard Lukas Simoner (190-99) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Blackbirds have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Lions and Flames. Loser Worthersee Piraten still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with BBU S.. Blackbirds will meet at home UBC St. Polten (#7) in the next round. Worthersee Piraten will play against Raiders (#8) in Villach and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
