Regular Season Round 5: Bamberg - Gotha II 66-88
Date: October 15, 2017
Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Gotha II (3-1) smashed on the road 9th ranked Bamberg (1-3) 88-66 on Sunday. They outrebounded Bamberg 55-25 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Power forward Filip Stanic (207-98) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and Estonian point guard Kristian Kullamae (194-99) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Four Gotha II players scored in double figures. Swingman Christoph Dippold (191-94) responded with 12 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Kevin Jefferson (175-96) scored 10 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gotha II moved-up to third place in South-East, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Bamberg dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. Gotha II will face Schwabing (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Bamberg will play against Herzogenaurach and hope to win that game.
