Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Recklinghausen (0-4) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Braunschweig (1-1) 61-45 on Sunday. The game without a history. Braunschweig led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They held Recklinghausen to an opponent 24.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 37.9 percent accuracy of the winners. Braunschweig forced 20 Recklinghausen turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Ariel Hearn (171-94, college: Memphis) who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import forward Brianna Wright (182-94, college: Memphis) who added 13 points and 21 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side power forward Pia Kassack (186-82) responded with 13 points and 7 rebounds and center Leonie Bleker (189-90) scored 6 points and 7 rebounds. Recklinghausen's coach Peer Reckinger rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Braunschweig left bottom position moving up to seventh place in North, which they share with BG 89 Avides and B.Loewen. Newly promoted Recklinghausen still closes the standings with four games lost. Braunschweig will face higher ranked TG Neuss (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Recklinghausen will play against Rotenburg/Scheessel (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
