Regular Season Round 4: Wels - UBSC Graz 84-57

Date: October 21, 2017
Raiffeisen Flyers Wels' fans can celebrate the first win of their team after two consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat UBSC Graz (0-4) 84-57 on Saturday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Raiffeisen Flyers Wels made 7 blocks. The winners were led by naturalized Dominican forward Carlos Novas-Mateo (197-92, agency: Mansfield and Associates) who scored that evening 17 points and American guard Elijah Wilson (193-94, college: Co.Carolina) supported him with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Raiffeisen Flyers Wels players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 5 assists by international Anton Maresch (191-91) did not help to save the game for UBSC Graz. American center Darien Nelson-Henry (211-94, college: Pennsylvania) added 13 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Raiffeisen Flyers Wels (1-2) left bottom position moving up to sixth place. It was UBSC Graz's fourth loss in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost. Raiffeisen Flyers Wels will meet at home higher ranked Gmunden Swans (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. UBSC Graz will play against the league's second-placed Dukes (#2) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
