Regular Season Round 4: Benfica - Boa Viagem 93-61

Everything could happen in Lisbona at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked Benfica and 8th ranked Boa Viagem had identical 2-2 record. This time Benfica used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Angra Heroismo 93-61 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Benfica. Boa Viagem was better in fourth quarter 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Benfica dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Boa Viagem's 32. Benfica forced 21 Boa Viagem turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Dejza James (185, college: Arizona) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and international point guard Catarina Neves (173-93) who added 13 points and 11 assists during the contest. Four Benfica players scored in double figures. At the losing side Ugandan forward Claire Lamunu (185-93, college: Vanguard) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds and American guard Sara Dickey (180-95, college: Evansville) scored 20 points and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Benfica maintains sixth position with 3-2 record. Boa Viagem lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with three games lost. Benfica will face league's leader Uniao Sportiva in Ponta Delgada in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Boa Viagem will play on the road against the league's second-placed GDESSA (#2) in Barreiro and hope to win that game.
