Regular Season Round 5: Neuss - Braunschweig 84-82

Date: October 21, 2017
Very expected game when 9th ranked Braunschweig (1-2) was edged on the road by fourth ranked TG Neuss (3-2) 84-82 on Saturday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. TG Neuss made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Strangely Braunschweig outrebounded TG Neuss 38-26 including 23 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Briana Williams (170-92, college: Mercer) who scored 22 points and 7 assists. Swingman Franziska Worthmann (178-86, college: Robert Morris) chipped in 26 points. TG Neuss' coach Janina Pils allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American point guard Ariel Hearn (171-94, college: Memphis) produced a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Brianna Wright (182-94, college: Memphis) added 12 points and 13 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Braunschweig players scored in double figures. TG Neuss moved-up to second place in North, which they share with Opladen. Loser Braunschweig keeps the ninth position with two games lost. TG Neuss will face Rotenburg/Scheessel (#5) on the road in the next round. Braunschweig will play against Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel (#6) and hope to win that game.
