Regular Season Round 4: Petkim - Istanbulspor 73-83

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Istanbulspor and 12th ranked Socar Petkim had identical 1-2 record. But Socar Petkim was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Istanbul 83-73 on Saturday night. Istanbulspor outrebounded Socar Petkim 36-17 including a 12-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Tyrone Brazelton (184-86, college: W.Kentucky, agency: Higher Vision Sports) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 5 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and the other American import forward Tyler Smith (200-86, college: Tennessee) who added 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side American point guard Alfrie Kelley (183-85, college: S.Carolina) responded with 23 points and 4 assists and Bulgarian power forward Kaloyan Ivanov (205-86, agency: BeoBasket) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Istanbulspor (2-2) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Akhisar Bld and Karesi Spor. Socar Petkim lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with three games lost. Istanbulspor will face Samsun (#15) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Socar Petkim will play against Bandirma Kir. in Balikesir and hope to win that game.
