Regular Season Round 5: Cuxhaven - Rostock 77-83

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Rostock and 10th ranked Cuxhaven had identical 1-3 record. But Cuxhaven was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Rostock 83-77 on Saturday night. Rostock made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Cuxhaven turnovers. Strangely Cuxhaven outrebounded Rostock 47-27 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Brandon Lockhart (185-90, college: Drury) who scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Naturalized American Chris Frazier (182-90, college: Dubuque, agency: SportsVision-Service) chipped in 13 points. Australian-British forward Obi Kyei (206-94, college: Eckerd, agency: Two Points) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds and center Florian Wendeler (205-93) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Cuxhaven players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Rostock (2-3) moved-up to sixth place in North, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Cuxhaven keeps the tenth position with four games lost. Rostock will face Oldenburg (#9) at home in the next round. Cuxhaven will play against Itzehoe and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
