Regular Season Round 6: Goettingen - Jena 86-60

BG Goettingen's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after five consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they outplayed much higher ranked Science City Jena (2-4) 86-60 on Saturday. They outrebounded Science City Jena 39-23 including 29 on the defensive glass. American players dominated the game. Darius Carter (201-92, college: Wichita St.) notched 20 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and point guard Michael Stockton (185-89, college: Westminster, UT) supported him with 12 points and 6 assists. Five BG Goettingen players scored in double figures. Even 16 points by forward Derrick Allen (201-80, college: Mississippi) did not help to save the game for Science City Jena. Guard Skyler Bowlin (191-89, college: Missouri So.) added 8 points and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. BG Goettingen (1-5) left bottom position moving up to fourteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Science City Jena dropped to the twelfth position with four games lost. They share it with Braunschweig. BG Goettingen will meet higher ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (#11) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Science City Jena will play against EnBW Ludwigsburg and hope to secure a win.
