Regular Season Round 5: Elchingen - Dragons 103-72

The biggest surprise took place in Elchingen where host Elchingen (4-1) crushed league's leader Dragons Rhoendorf (5-1) 103-72 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Dragons Rhoendorf. Elchingen dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Dragons Rhoendorf's 34. Elchingen forced 24 Dragons Rhoendorf turnovers and outrebounded them 41-28 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 19 passes made by Dragons Rhoendorf's players. The best player for the winners was American guard Hayden Lescault (196-92, college: Point Loma) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Brian Butler (196-91) chipped in 18 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). American guard Kameron Taylor (198-94, college: Seton Hill) produced 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Viktor Frankl-Maus (186-93) added 11 points and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Four Dragons Rhoendorf players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Elchingen have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place in South, which they share with Iserlohn. Dragons Rhoendorf at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Schalke. Dragons Rhoendorf will play next round against Fraport Skyliners II trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Elchingen will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Giessen 46ers II at home.
