Regular Season Round 4: Chaika - HAI 79-89
Date: October 21, 2017
The game between one of their biggest challengers Chaika (2-4) and sixth ranked HAI (2-2) in Berdiansk on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Kharkiv beat Chaika 89-79. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Chaika. The game was mostly controlled by HAI. Chaika managed to win second period 27-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 30-of-39 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. The winners were led by international center Oleksandra Chek (191-93) who scored that evening 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Svitlana Radionova (184-97) supported her with 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four HAI players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 19 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals by point guard Olena Popova (170-1) did not help to save the game for Chaika. Forward Angelica Lyashko (174-0) added 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. HAI moved-up to fifth place. Newly promoted Chaika dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. HAI will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Chaika will play against Tavriyska Zirka (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
