Regular Season Round 5: B.Loewen - Opladen 67-80

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked SG BBZ Opladen (3-2) defeated on the road 8th ranked B.Loewen (1-2) 80-67 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by SG BBZ Opladen. B.Loewen was better in fourth quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-16 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. The best player for the winners was forward Leonie Schuetter (177-98) who scored 24 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Center Mareike Nettersheim (186-83) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. SG BBZ Opladen's coach Birgit Kunel allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Deeshyra Thomas (168-95, college: Weber St.) produced 24 points and 5 assists and the other American import Treyvonna Brooks (185-94, college: Tenn Tech) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. SG BBZ Opladen moved-up to second place in North, which they share with Neuss. Loser B.Loewen dropped to the ninth position with two games lost. SG BBZ Opladen will have a break next round. B.Loewen will play at home against Baskets Grunberg (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
