Regular Season Round 5: Wuerzburg - Bamberg 58-52
Date: October 22, 2017
Very predictable result when fifth ranked Ladybaskets Wuerzburg (3-1) beat at home bottom-ranked Don Bosco Bamberg (0-5) 58-52 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Don Bosco Bamberg trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 13-8 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 52-58 at the end of the game. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg forced 19 Don Bosco Bamberg turnovers. The best player for the winners was Canadian forward Jenna Bugiardini (180) who scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Rebekka Jaeger (178) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg's coach Janet Fowler-Michel let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American power forward Tori Waldner (196-93, college: Penn St.) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and forward Julia Forner (176-1) added 14 points respectively for the guests. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg moved-up to third place in South, which they share with Jahn Muenchen and Weiterstadt. Loser Don Bosco Bamberg still closes the standings with five games lost. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg will face Krofdorf/Gleib. (#7) in Giessen in the next round. Don Bosco Bamberg will play at home against Speyer / Schifferstadt (#10) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
