Regular Season Round 6: Kibirkstis - Vilkmerge 90-49

Very significant was Kibirkstis' (#1, 5-0) victory against 4th ranked Vilkmerge (1-3) 90-49. Kibirkstis dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Vilkmerge's 30. Kibirkstis forced 35 Vilkmerge turnovers and outrebounded them 35-20 including 21 on the defensive glass. International forward Gabija Meskonyte (181-98) notched 18 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Dalia Donskichyte (168-0) supported her with 11 points, 7 assists and 5 steals. Five Kibirkstis players scored in double figures. Kibirkstis' coach Jurgita Streimikyte felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 12 points and 5 rebounds by Karolina Ambotaite (184-96) did not help to save the game for Vilkmerge. Guard Rita Zilinskaite (175-92) added 11 points. Kibirkstis (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 5 victories in a row. Vilkmerge at the other side dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. Kibirkstis will play against Suduva (#3) in Marijampole in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Vilkmerge will play at home against Fortuna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
