Mersin Uni can celebrate their first win this season after three consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Fenerbahce G. (1-3) 92-67 on Friday. Mersin Uni dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Fenerbahce G.'s 30. They outrebounded Fenerbahce G. 41-22 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Ariel Butts (190-93, college: Rutgers) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 23 rebounds and forward Selvin Turkmen (173-80) who added 25 points during the contest. Four Mersin Uni players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Merve Ari (175-98) responded with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Melisa Korkmaz (172-97) scored 21 points. Mersin Uni left bottom position moving up to eleventh place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Fenerbahce G. It was Fenerbahce G.'s third loss in a row. Mersin Uni will meet higher ranked Urla BLD (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Fenerbahce G. will play against the league's leader Bodrum (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
