Rather expected game when 11th ranked BasCats Heidelberg (1-6) lost on the road to eighth ranked ChemCats Chemnitz (3-4) 78-71 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-71. ChemCats Chemnitz made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Quite impressive performance for Swedish forward Abigail Asoro (183-93, college: Iowa Western CC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Valerie McQuade (183-93, college: Niagara) contributed with 23 points for the winners. American forward Tiffany Jones (190-91, college: Seton Hall) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks and the other American import Vee Young (186-89, college: Martin Methodist) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for BasCats Heidelberg. BasCats Heidelberg's coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. ChemCats Chemnitz maintains eighth place with 3-4 record. BasCats Heidelberg lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. ChemCats Chemnitz will face SV Halle Lions (#9) on the road in the next round. BasCats Heidelberg will play against TV Saarlouis Royals and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
