LPB top team - Benfica (5-0) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat ninth ranked Galitos-Barreiro (1-4) 81-70. The guests trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 40-24 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Jesse Sanders (190-89, college: Liberty) who scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Antywane Robinson (203-84, college: Temple) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Benfica's coach Jose Ricardo Rodrigues used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. International Henrique Piedade (189-94) produced 16 points and Serbian power forward Bojan Petrovic (206-88) added 8 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Benfica have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 5-0 record. Galitos-Barreiro lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with four games lost. Benfica will meet at home CAB Madeira (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Galitos-Barreiro will play against FC Porto Ferpinta (#8) and hope to win that game.
