Regular Season Round 6: Timberwolves - Blackbirds 90-87

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Timberwolves as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Timberwolves edged 4th ranked Blackbirds in Vienna 90-87. Timberwolves dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Blackbirds' 20. Strangely Blackbirds outrebounded Timberwolves 40-28 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Blackbirds' players. Croatian guard Petar Cosic (183-85, agency: Interperformances) had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Philipp DAngelo (198-89) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists during the contest. Five Timberwolves players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Christoph Astl (187-88) with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 16 rebounds and guard Matthias Klepeisz (190-89) scored 23 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Timberwolves (6-0) have an impressive six-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Newly promoted Blackbirds dropped to the sixth place with three games lost. They share the position with Rocks. Blackbirds will play next round against KOS trying to get back on the winning streak. Timberwolves will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Raiders in Villach.
