Regular Season Round 7: Rendsburg - ALBA Berlin II 106-40

Date: October 28, 2017
No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Rendsburg (4-2) crushed at home 9th ranked ALBA-2 (1-4) 106-40 on Saturday. Rendsburg dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to ALBA-2's 20 and made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game, while ALBA-2 only scored two points from the stripe. Rendsburg forced 26 ALBA-2 turnovers and outrebounded them 46-18 including a 33-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by ALBA-2's players. It was a very good performance for American guard Garrett Jefferson (190-91, college: Cal.Baptist) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). British power forward Deji Adekunle (209-92, college: Kaiser) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Five Rendsburg players scored in double figures. Rendsburg's coach Bjarne Homfeldt felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Marcin Matusiak answered with 8 points and 7 rebounds and Steven Hadrich added 11 points in the effort for ALBA-2. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Rendsburg. They moved-up to fourth place in North, which they share with Goetting.ASC. Loser ALBA-2 keeps the ninth position with four games lost. Rendsburg will face WSG Koenigs (#9) in Wildau in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. ALBA-2 will play at home against the league's leader Aschersleben and hope to win that game.
