Regular Season Round 5: Turk Telekom - Yalova Bld 88-83

Bottom-ranked Yalova Bld (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 88-83 loss to leader Turk Telekom (5-0) in Ankara on Saturday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. They made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Turk Telekom looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Kaya Peker (207-80, agency: Court Side) who scored 22 points and 8 rebounds. American power forward Darryl Monroe (201-86, college: George Mason) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists. American forward Mikael Hopkins (206-93, college: Georgetown) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Markel Starks (188-91, college: Georgetown) added 22 points respectively for the guests. Four Turk Telekom and five Yalova Bld players scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Turk Telekom. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Selcuklu. Yalova Bld lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Turk Telekom's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Ankara to the arena Orman Genclik.
