Regular Season Round 7: Ansbach - Gotha II 85-90

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Gotha II (5-1) defeated on the road 8th ranked Ansbach (2-4) 90-85 on Saturday. They outrebounded Ansbach 41-28 including 26 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Gotha II made 7 blocks. It was a very good performance for Estonian point guard Kristian Kullamae (190-99) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Filip Stanic (207-98) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. American power forward Nick Freer (198-85, college: Grand Valley St., agency: SportsVision-Service) answered with 19 points and 6 assists and forward Walter Simon (202-89, college: Cumberland) added 15 points in the effort for Ansbach. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gotha II. They moved-up to second place in South-East, which they share with TSV Troester and Treuchtlingen. Loser Ansbach keeps the eighth position with four games lost. Gotha II will face league's second-placed TSV Troester in Breitenguessbach in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ansbach will play on the road against Herzogenaurach (#12) and hope to win that game.
