Regular Season Round 7: Muenster - Grevenbroich 92-87

Regionalliga round 7 caused change at the leadership position. First defeat of league's leader Grevenbroich (7-1) against third ranked Muenster (7-1) 92-87 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Grevenbroich. It was a key game for the top position in West. Muenster looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Bryce Leavitt (193-94, college: Seattle Pacific) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 23 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Forward Jan Koenig (201-93) contributed with 29 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Muenster's coach Phillip Kappenstein used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Gerrell Martin (190-93, college: LIU Brooklyn) answered with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Farid Sadek (188-83) added 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Grevenbroich. Four Grevenbroich players scored in double figures. Muenster keeps a position of West leader, which they share with Hertener Loewen and Grevenbroich. Grevenbroich will play next round against Duesseldorf trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Muenster will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Herford on the road.
