Regular Season Round 7: Marburg - Halle 69-72

A very interesting game took place in Marburg. It ended with only three-point home defeat of higher ranked BC Pharmaserv Marburg (4-3) to ninth ranked SV Halle Lions (2-5) 72-69 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of BC Pharmaserv Marburg. BC Pharmaserv Marburg was ahead by 9 points at the halftime before a 46-34 second half run of SV Halle Lions. They also forced 25 BC Pharmaserv Marburg turnovers. American guard Brittany Hrynko (173-93, college: De Paul, agency: LBM Management) fired 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Her fellow American import forward Milan Quinn (185-95, college: Wake Forest) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four SV Halle Lions players scored in double figures. SV Halle Lions' coach Rene Spandauw allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The former international forward Stephanie Wagner (182-90) produced 15 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Tonisha Baker (173-90, college: Campbell) added 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. SV Halle Lions maintains ninth place with 2-5 record. BC Pharmaserv Marburg at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. SV Halle Lions' next round opponent will be higher ranked ChemCats Chemnitz (#8) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BC Pharmaserv Marburg will play against Goettingen (#10) and hope to win that game.
