Regular Season Round 4: Lusitania - FC Porto 84-93

There was an upset in Angra where higher ranked Lusitania (3-4) was defeated by tenth ranked FC Porto Ferpinta (2-3) 93-84 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Lusitania won fourth quarter 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. FC Porto Ferpinta dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Lusitania's 30. They outrebounded Lusitania 42-20 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Serbian power forward Sasa Borovnjak (206-89, college: Penn St., agency: 011 Sports) stepped up and scored 25 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and American-Irish swingman Will Hanley (201-90, college: Bowdoin, agency: Duran International) chipped in 10 points and 12 rebounds. FC Porto Ferpinta's coach Moncho Lopez used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American swingman Dominique Coleman (198-88, college: Francis Marion) responded with 25 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import guard Four McGlynn (188-92, college: Rhode Island) scored 25 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. FC Porto Ferpinta moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Ovarense. Loser Lusitania dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. FC Porto Ferpinta will face Galitos-Barreiro (#11) at home in the next round.
