Regular Season Round 7: Mainz - Limburg 93-84

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Limburg (1-6) lost on the road to eleventh ranked Mainz (3-4) 93-84 on Sunday. Quite impressive performance for naturalized American point guard Anish Sharda (188-82, college: St.Mary's, KS) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 8 assists. Richard Maurer contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Mainz's coach Christian Zander allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Brandon Shingles (190-87, college: Morehead St.) answered with 26 points and 7 rebounds and Swedish power forward Aron Thorell-Walker (208-88) added 20 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Limburg. Five Mainz and four Limburg players scored in double figures. Mainz moved-up to tenth place in South-West, which they share with Fellbach. Limburg lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with six games lost. Mainz will face league's leader BV Villingen-Schwenningen on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Limburg will play against Kaiserslautern (#6) and hope to win that game.
