Regular Season Round 4: Slavia - Champion 2006 85-63

Date: November 3, 2017
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Sofia: Slavia (#3) and Champion 2006 (#2). Slavia (3-1) smashed visiting Champion 2006 (2-2) by 22 points 85-63. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Champion 2006. It was a key game for the second position in West. The game without a history. Slavia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 29 Champion 2006 turnovers and outrebounded them 39-25 including a 20-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Ester Micheva (180-94) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Antonia Filipova (180-98) contributed with 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Slavia players scored in double figures. Center Elena Dimova (190-0) replied with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and guard Denitsa Petrova (176-0) added 16 points and 5 assists in the effort for Champion 2006. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Slavia moved-up to second place in West. Champion 2006 at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the third position with two games lost. Slavia's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sofia to the arena Levski.
