Regular Season Round 8: Herner - Donau-Ries 67-46

There was a change at the DBBL leadership position after last games. Round 8 most important game was a defeat of league's leader TH Wohnbau Angels (6-2). They were crushed by seventh ranked Herner TC (5-3) 67-46 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of TH Wohnbau Angels. The game was mostly controlled by Herner TC. TH Wohnbau Angels managed to win second period 14-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Dutch forward Jill Bettonvil (188-92) who helped to win the game recording 11 points and Dutch guard Karin Kuijt (174-90) who added 12 points during the contest. Herner TC's coach Marek Piotrowski felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Canadian forward Kim Pierre-Louis (183-93, college: Massachusetts) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and Canadian guard Samantha Hill (178-94, college: Virginia Tech) scored 11 points. Herner TC moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Marburg. TH Wohnbau Angels at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Wasserburg. TH Wohnbau Angels will play next round against strong Gruner Stern Keltern trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Herner TC will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Hannover on the road.
