Regular Season Round 7: Opladen - Gruenberg 67-61

Very expected game in Leverkusen where 9th ranked Baskets Grunberg (2-5) was defeated by fourth ranked SG BBZ Opladen (4-2) 67-61 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Baskets Grunberg won third quarter 16-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for SG BBZ Opladen especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.5 percentage. It was a great evening for point guard Nicola Happel (164-92) who led her team to a victory scoring 24 points. Center Mareike Nettersheim (186-83) helped adding 8 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks. At the losing side American forward Celia Marfone (183-94, college: Cal-Davis) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and forward Stella Reichert (185) scored 7 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. SG BBZ Opladen maintains fourth place in North with 4-2 record, which they share with Wolfenbuettel. Baskets Grunberg lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with five games lost. SG BBZ Opladen will face Osnabruecker (#7) on the road in the next round.
