Regular Season Round 8: Vechta II - Ebstorf 116-48

Very expected game when bottom-ranked Ebstorf (0-7) was crushed on the road by sixth ranked Vechta-2 (4-2) 116-48 on Saturday. Vechta-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Ebstorf's 30. They outrebounded Ebstorf 45-28 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Vechta-2 looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Ebstorf's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Vechta-2 made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Robert Crawford (201-90, college: Cent.Arkansas) who helped to win the game recording 41 points (!!!), 5 assists and 5 steals and Croatian center Neven Zeravica (205-88, college: W.Virg.Wesl.) who added 22 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Vechta-2's coach Hanno Stein felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Benjamin Bormann (176) responded with 8 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Konrad Burda (195-96) scored 13 points. Vechta-2 moved-up to fifth place in North. Newly promoted Ebstorf still closes the standings with seven games lost. Vechta-2 will face league's leader Sixers in Sandersdorf in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ebstorf will play at home against Westerstede (#11) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
