Regular Season Round 7: Lions - Piraten 93-63

Bottom-ranked Worthersee Piraten (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 93-63 loss to third ranked Lions (6-1) in Dornbirn. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Worthersee Piraten's 34. Lions forced 24 Worthersee Piraten turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Spanish center Antoni Vicens (204-90) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds. Spanish guard Ander Arruti (190-90) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 5 rebounds, 11 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Lions' coach Inaki Merino felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Lukas Simoner (190-99) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and guard Andreas Nuck (-0) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Worthersee Piraten. Five Lions and four Worthersee Piraten players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Lions. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Mustangs. Worthersee Piraten lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. Lions will play against UBC St. Polten (#4) in St.Polten in the next round. Worthersee Piraten will play at home against Flames (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
