Regular Season Round 5: Beroe - Rilski 68-96

The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Beroe (3-1) in Stara Zagora on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by sixth ranked Rilski (3-2) 96-68. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Beroe. The game was mostly controlled by Rilski. Beroe managed to win fourth quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Beroe's 32. Rilski shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Beroe's players. American forward Travis Taylor (203-90, college: Xavier) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Yordan Bozov (191-79) contributed with 11 points and 6 assists for the winners. Five Rilski players scored in double figures. Rilski's coach Ludmil Hadjisotirov felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International forward Aleksandar Yanev-Georgiev (203-90, agency: 011 Sports) answered with 15 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Terry Whisnant (190-92, college: E.Carolina) added 18 points in the effort for Beroe. Rilski moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Levski 2014 and Akademik PL. Beroe at the other side keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with Lukoil Acad.. Rilski is looking forward to face Yambol (#7) at home in the next round. Beroe will play against the league's leader Balkan (#1) in Botevgrad and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
