Date: November 4, 2017
There was no surprise when 9th ranked Crailsheim II (3-4) was outplayed at home by third ranked Speyer (6-1) 107-55 on Saturday. The game without a history. Speyer led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Crailsheim II's 30. Speyer forced 24 Crailsheim II turnovers and outrebounded them 47-30 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Crailsheim II's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Spanish forward Pedro Farina (198-92, college: South Plains JC) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals and Matthias Meier (194-97) who added 18 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Speyer players scored in double figures. American forward Eric Ross (201-94, college: Shorter) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and forward Vincent Hoffmann (206-1) scored 8 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Speyer have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in South-West. Newly promoted Crailsheim II keeps the ninth position with four games lost. Speyer will face TV Langen (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Crailsheim II will play against Tuebingen II (#4) and hope to win that game.
