Regular Season Round 7: Wolfenbuettel - BG 89 Avides 73-51

Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel (4-2) smashed at home 7th ranked Rotenburg/Scheessel (2-3) 73-51 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel. Rotenburg/Scheessel was better in fourth quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel dominated on the defensive end, holding Rotenburg/Scheessel to just 7 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Rotenburg/Scheessel 39-22 including a 27-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Canadian guard Nakeshia Hyde (180-90, college: Texas Tech) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Leonie Rosemeyer (182-99) helped adding 20 points. At the losing side American center Cassidy Clark (186, college: Truman St.) responded with 11 points and the former international guard Pia Mankertz (170-90) scored 10 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel. They moved-up to fourth place in North, which they share with Opladen. Loser Rotenburg/Scheessel dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel will face league's leader Osnabrueck SC on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rotenburg/Scheessel will play against TuSLi Berlin (#3) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the DBBL just one year after relegation.
