Regular Season Round 6: Tavriyska Zirka - Interkhim 57-80

Bottom-ranked Tavriyska Zirka (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 80-57 loss to second ranked Interkhim (5-1) in Kherson. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Interkhim outrebounded Tavriyska Zirka 52-28 including a 23-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Point guard Yelyzaveta Mitina (172-98) notched 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and swingman Yulia Musienko (177-97) supported her with 16 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Interkhim's coach Iryna Shchipakina felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 15 points and 7 assists by swingman Lolita Sysoyeva (172-95) did not help to save the game for Tavriyska Zirka. Power forward Marharyta Hliebova (187-96) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks. Interkhim maintains second position with 5-1 record having five points less than leader Kyiv Basket. Tavriyska Zirka at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Interkhim's next round opponent will be Chaika (#3) in Berdiansk, which may be the game of the day. Tavriyska Zirka will play at home against HAI (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
