Regular Season Round 8: Wolfenbuettel - Art.Dragons 74-72

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Artland Dragons (5-2) against ninth ranked Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (3-5) on Sunday night. Visiting Artland Dragons were edged by Herzoege Wolfenbuettel in a tough game in Wolfenbuettel 72-74. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Artland Dragons. The best player for the winners was American guard Demetrius Ward (188-90, college: W.Michigan) who scored 27 points and 6 rebounds. Center Tom Alte (207-95) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks. Ward is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Andre Calvin (201-85, college: Drake) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and guard Philipp Lieser (194-89, college: Cent.Washington) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Artland Dragons players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel moved-up to eighth place in North, which they share with Oldenburg. Loser Artland Dragons keep the third position with two games lost. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel will meet higher ranked Rostock (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Artland Dragons will play against Oldenburg and hope to secure a win.
