Regular Season Round 8: Stade - Weser Bsk/BTS 105-62

Date: November 5, 2017
There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Stade (2-4) outscored at home higher ranked Weser Bsk/BTS (3-4) 105-62 on Sunday. Stade dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Weser Bsk/BTS's 38 and made 33-of-39 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game, while Weser Bsk/BTS only scored twelve points from the stripe. Stade forced 20 Weser Bsk/BTS turnovers and outrebounded them 45-31 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Weser Bsk/BTS was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Spanish power forward Oscar Andres (200-87) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 19 rebounds and swingman Janis Stielow (193-95) who added 22 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Five Stade players scored in double figures. Naturalized American point guard Matthew Reid (185-84, college: Cameron) responded with 14 points and naturalized Congolese forward Blanchard Obiango (202-88) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Stade moved-up to ninth place in North, which they share with ALBA Berlin II. Loser Weser Bsk/BTS dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. Stade will face higher ranked Rendsburg (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
