Regular Season Round 5: Craiova - Steaua CSM 102-99 OT

5th ranked Steaua CSM (3-2) fell to eighth ranked Craiova (3-2) in overtime by three points 99-102 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Steaua CSM. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 20-16 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 3-point victory in overtime. Craiova made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Steaua CSM was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Montenegrin point guard Goran Martinic (187-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 4 assists. Croatian swingman Ivan Siriscevic (198-87, agency: PEPI SPORT) contributed with 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Brandon Taylor (178-94, college: Utah) answered with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and Bulgarian Pavel Marinov (199-88) added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Steaua CSM. Five Steaua CSM players scored in double figures. Steaua CSM's coach Jukka Toijala rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Craiova moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Steaua CSM. Craiova will face Oradea (#7) on the road in the next round. Steaua CSM will play against Phoenix Galati and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
