Regular Season Round 8: Timberwolves - BBU S. 112-80

2.Bundesliga top team - Timberwolves (8-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed eleventh ranked BBU S. (1-7) in Vienna 112-80. Timberwolves made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 27 BBU S. turnovers. Strangely BBU S. outrebounded Timberwolves 47-26 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by BBU S.'s players. The winners were led by guard Jonas John (186-99) who scored that evening 25 points and 8 assists and point guard Laurence Mueller (178-94) supported him with 13 points. Timberwolves' coach Hubert Schmidt felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 20 points and 14 rebounds by Spanish forward Guillermo Sanchez (200-91) did not help to save the game for BBU S.. Spanish guard Sergio Jimenez (188-95) added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Timberwolves have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-0 record. Loser BBU S. dropped to the tenth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Basket 2K. Timberwolves will meet Lions (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. BBU S. will play against Blackbirds (#6) and hope to win that game.
