Regular Season Round 9: Schwabing - Oberhaching 65-72

Very expected game when 9th ranked Schwabing (3-5) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Oberhaching (6-2) 72-65 on Saturday. Oberhaching made 32-of-41 free shots (78.0 percent) during the game, while Schwabing only scored fifteen points from the stripe. They outrebounded Schwabing 44-31 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Schwabing was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was point guard Janosch Koegler (190-93) who scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Center Moritz Wohlers (203-84, college: Mont.St.-Billings) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Fynn Fischer (208-99) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and American forward Nathan Gibbs (204-89, college: Westmont) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Oberhaching. They moved-up to third place in South-East, which they share with TSV Troester and Treuchtlingen. Loser Schwabing keeps the ninth position with five games lost. Oberhaching will face Ansbach (#6) at home in the next round. Schwabing will play against Bamberg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
