Regular Season Round 12: KTU - Zalgiris II 64-84

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kaunas: Zalgiris II (#7) and KTU (#14). KTU was smashed at home by 20 points 64-84 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Zalgiris II made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game, while KTU only scored four points from the stripe. The best player for the winners was Ignas Sargiunas (193-99) who scored 13 points and 6 assists. Swingman Matas Jogela (198-98) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Zalgiris II players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Matas Sapiega (178-90) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 assists and guard Karolis Kokoska (194-92) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zalgiris II (6-6) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Telsiai. Loser KTU stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Zalgiris II will meet higher ranked Silute (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. KTU will play against Neptunas-Akv. (#5) in Klaipeda and hope to secure a win.
