Regular Season Round 9: Rist Wedel - Itzehoe 72-74

There was an upset when higher ranked SC Rist Wedel (4-5) was edged at home by tenth ranked Itzehoe (3-6) 74-72 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was British-Australian point guard Joshua Wilcher (178-91, college: Cent.Wyoming) who scored 26 points. American forward Kaimyn Pruitt (203-90, college: Adams St., agency: Aspire Sports) chipped in 10 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Itzehoe players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian guard Nino Celebic (191-91) who recorded 27 points, 8 assists and 4 steals and naturalized Nigerian guard Osaro Rich-Igbineweka (187-98) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively. SC Rist Wedel's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Itzehoe maintains tenth place in North with 3-6 record. SC Rist Wedel lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Itzehoe will face higher ranked ETB Wohnbau (#3) in Essen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. SC Rist Wedel will play on the road against AstroStars in Bochum and hope to win that game.
