Regular Season Round 9: ETB Wohnbau - Cuxhaven 75-71

Date: November 11, 2017
Very predictable result in Essen where fourth ranked ETB Wohnbau (6-3) beat 11th ranked Cuxhaven (2-7) 75-71 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. ETB Wohnbau looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when ETB Wohnbau made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was American guard Montrael Scott (190-93, college: Prairie View A&M) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 7 rebounds and 13 assists. Center Adam Touray (208-94) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was Australian-British forward Obi Kyei (206-94, college: Eckerd, agency: Two Points) who recorded 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Terence Smith (193-91, college: Mississippi) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for ETB Wohnbau. They moved-up to third place in North. Newly promoted Cuxhaven keeps the eleventh position with seven games lost. ETB Wohnbau will face Itzehoe (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cuxhaven will play against the league's leader Schalke and hope to win that game.
