Regular Season Round 9: Ansbach - Leitershofen 94-67

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Topstar (4-4) was crushed on the road by eighth ranked Ansbach (4-4) 94-67 on Saturday. Ansbach made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was forward Walter Simon (202-89, college: Cumberland) who scored 23 points (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Naturalized Croatian point guard Goran Petrovic (184-77) chipped in 16 points and 6 assists. Ansbach's coach Martin Ides felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Jonathan Genck (185-86) who recorded 17 points and naturalized American forward Dominik Veney (198-87) added 8 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Five Ansbach and four Topstar players scored in double figures. Ansbach moved-up to sixth place in South-East, which they share with Leitershofen and Muenchen OSB. Ansbach will face higher ranked Oberhaching (#4) in Deisenhofen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
