Regular Season Round 9: Giessen 46ers II - Iserlohn 68-73

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Giessen 46ers II (5-4) was defeated at home by third ranked Iserlohn (7-2) 73-68 on Saturday. Iserlohn forced 22 Giessen 46ers II turnovers. Strangely Giessen 46ers II outrebounded Iserlohn 42-28 including 31 on the defensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was power forward Julian Scott (203-90, college: Adams St.) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Donte Nicholas (196-87, college: Fresno Pacific) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Iserlohn players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Jeril Taylor (193-94, college: S.Indiana) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Nick Hornsby (201-95, college: Sacramento St.) added 19 points and 12 rebounds respectively. The victory was the third consecutive win for Iserlohn. They maintain third place in South with 7-2 record behind leader Elchingen. Newly promoted Giessen 46ers II keeps the fifth position with four games lost. Iserlohn will face Coburg (#9) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Giessen 46ers II will play against Titans (#5) in Dresden and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
