Regular Season Round 10: Cherkasy - Mykolaiv 86-81

The game in Cherkasy was also quite interesting. One of their biggest challengers Mykolaiv (4-5) played at the court of fifth ranked Cherkasy (5-5). Cherkasy managed to secure a 5-point victory 86-81 on Saturday. Cherkasy looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international swingman Oleksandr Kolchenko (195-88) scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Volodymyr Koniev (203-89) chipped in 14 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Cherkasy players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Oleksandr Kushnirov (210-92) responded with 21 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Vladyslav Tonchenko (185-89) scored 8 points and 7 assists. Mykolaiv's coach Sergei Kirlan tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Cherkasy moved-up to fourth place. Loser Mykolaiv dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Cherkasy will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mykolaiv will play against Khimik (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
