Regular Season Round 8: Recklinghausen - Neuss 57-79

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Recklinghausen (0-7) was crushed at home by second ranked TG Neuss (6-2) 79-57 on Saturday. The game without a history. TG Neuss led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. TG Neuss forced 28 Recklinghausen turnovers. The best player for the winners was power forward Jana Heinrich (188-86, college: San Diego St.) who scored 8 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks. Karolin-Ivonn Tzokov (180-99) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four TG Neuss players scored in double figures. Power forward Britta Worms (188-88) produced 18 points and power forward Pia Kassack (186-82) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. TG Neuss have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position in North with 6-2 record behind leader Freiburg. Newly promoted Recklinghausen still closes the standings with seven games lost. TG Neuss will have a break next round. Recklinghausen will play on the road against Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
