Regular Season Round 4: Dragon Force - Vasco 66-76

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Porto: Vasco (#7) and Dragon Force (#5). Dragon Force was defeated at home 66-76 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 45-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Vasco forced 28 Dragon Force turnovers. Strangely Dragon Force outrebounded Vasco 38-21 including a 31-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Point guard Miguel Toreia (180-93) fired 20 points for the winners. Forward Paulo Vieira (192-94) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Cape Verdean center Kevin-Clay Gomes (209-95) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Joao Guerreiro (192-0) added 18 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Vasco (1-3) left bottom position moving up to fifth place in North, which they share with Academico FC and Dragon Force. It was Dragon Force's third loss in a row. Vasco will meet at home Beira Mar (#8) in the next round. Dragon Force will play against Sampaense in Coimbra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
