Regular Season Round 8: Weiterstadt - Bad Homburg 75-87

The game between closely ranked teams ended with second ranked Homburger TG's (6-2) road victory over one of their biggest challengers Weiterstadt (4-3) 87-75 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Homburger TG. Weiterstadt was better in third quarter 26-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Homburger TG won last quarter 26-15. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. The best player for the winners was naturalized Bulgarian guard Gergana Georgieva (181-87) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. Canadian guard Alexandra Polishchuk (168-87, college: Laurentian) chipped in 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Homburger TG's coach Jay Brown used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Canadian power forward Kaylee Kilpatrick (193-93, college: New Hampshire) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Christina Krick (169) added 21 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Homburger TG maintains second position in South with 6-2 record behind leader Freiburg. Loser Weiterstadt keeps the third place with three games lost. Homburger TG will face Friendsfactory Germering (#5) at home in the next round. Weiterstadt will play against Ladybaskets Wuerzburg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
