There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (4-5) edged on the road higher ranked Rostock (4-5) 82-80 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was American guard Demetrius Ward (188-90, college: W.Michigan) who scored 23 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Center Tom Alte (207-95) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds. Ward is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Herzoege Wolfenbuettel players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Bill Borekambi (198-92, college: Sequoias CC) who recorded 23 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Jordan Talbert (198-91, college: Missouri So.) added 19 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Rostock's coach Ralf Rehberger let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel moved-up to fifth place in North, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Rostock. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel will face Oldenburg (#6) at home in the next round. Rostock will play against RSV Eintracht in Stahnsdorf and hope to win that game.
