Regular Season Round 7: Bursa BSB - Elazig 80-76

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Bursa BSB and 9th ranked Elazig had identical 4-2 record. This time Bursa BSB used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Elazig 80-76 on Sunday night. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Bursa BSB dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Elazig's 36 and made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Bursa BSB forced 23 Elazig turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Elazig's players. American center Monique Oliver (188-91, college: Rutgers) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. The former international center Candide Ozturk (188-89) chipped in 21 points. Four Bursa BSB players scored in double figures. American power forward Sharon Houston (191-88, college: IU Northwest, agency: Gamble Sports Management) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds and naturalized Swedish guard Maria Gultekin (166-90) added 14 points and 6 assists (made all of her seven free throws) respectively for lost side. The victory was the third consecutive win for Bursa BSB. Newly promoted Bursa BSB maintains fourth place with 5-2 record, which they share with Urla BLD and Edirne. Loser Elazig dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Bursa BSB will face Edremit (#10) in Balikesir in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Elazig will play at home against Cankaya and hope to win that game.
